A business owner receives an offer that he'd be foolish to refuse, accepts it & now retired moves his family to an isolated valley called Comanche Basin on the Eastern Colorado High Plains. A business reporter from the Denver Post has finished his interview & is about to leave the small ranch when suddenly all of the electricity goes out & he can't start his car. An explosion high above the earth has caused the electrical grid to fail & computer chips to destroy themselves. In minutes it's estimated that over 2,500 airplanes in flight will fall to the earth,Trains will crash into one another when switches fail to ope rate, inland ships will be uncontrollable & millions of vehicles will turn streets & highways into huge jammed parking lots. Refrigeration, heat, transportation, utilities & safety as we knew it, suddenly ended. Soon criminal elements would move in to take advantage of the situation froming into large well armed groups called looters or raiders that roamed the Colorado Front Range killing, raping, stealing & pillaging the remaining population. This is the story about the Collins family & how they managed to survive.
