The Whole Family Came Out

Danielle Steel writes another interesting novel about 2 young girls Virginia and Veronica who "come out" at a Debutante Ball called the "Arches". This is expected of them since they are from New York's upper crust. Their mother Olympia made her debut in the same place 27 years ago and she is sentimental about the event. The problem is that her second husband Harry Rubinstein, a liberal Jewish judge, does not approve of the snobbery associated with the event and does not want to go. To make matters worse, the girl's father Chauncey, an obnoxious snob, insists that the girls go even though Veronica, a typical teenager, feels that it against her principles. The story is interesting because it illustrates all of the struggles that each member of family goes through in order to attend the ball. In the end, everything works out and there is peace among the family members. Each person handles the significance of the event in their own way.
Magnificent

The author drives the nail perfectly with one blow of the hammer. "Coming Out" gathers the world and puts it in ITS place. Tenderness knows not the boundaries of religion, gender, race or ethnics. Fantastically and precisely written: the reader can feel the history of prejudice and the miracle of coming out of the same cleansed. The diamonds and white gowns are so real one can see the spark between the lines. Well done, Ms. Steel: your best yet.
