This concise but thorough introduction to criticism explores nine useful approaches to critical study, whether examining television, fiction, nonfiction, visual arts, or oral and written discourse.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
It covers things you need to start communication critique from "what is communication critique" to "how different theories see communication practices". The problem is that examples used in the book may be too "American" for foreign students. So, if you know American TV shows, books, or politics well, those examples will help you to understand topics, but if not, you will need some extra attention to comprehend since you cannot use them.
Still on my bookshelf!

I love this book, I got it for an undergraduate class and I'm still using it in graduate school. It's a great handbook for writing communication research papers. It gives the basics on how to write using different theories, the important theorists, and the drawbacks to each theory. I just wish my grad classes used similar texts. It's very dense for an undergrad, but this book will find a home on your bookshelf if you're serious about communication research.
