The title may be a slight exaggeration, a 167 pages long book can hardly be complete, but this one comes close. Jay Silvester isn't just any writer, in the world of throwing he's certainly a somebody, and I nearly said: So is this book. The book comes with very good descriptions of modern throwing technique for all four Olympic throws, complete with pictures. You'll find suggestions for learning and teaching the throws step by step, which is very useful when you coach novice athletes. The authors suggest training drills for all four events, with pictures that eases understanding. At last, let's not forget the sample training programs. They will give you a pretty good idea about how to plan the training for a thrower. This is a very useful resource for anythrows coach, both beginning coaches and experienced ones. I almost forgot, the book is well written and easily read. You don't need to be an expert to benefit from it, but you still can if you are an expert.
A Good Read

I myself am a novice thrower who purchased this book in order to gain a better understanding of the javelin throw in particular and I am pleased to say that I wasn't let down. The book does a great job of offering some specific workout plans and training drills that can help increase your power output and thus enable you to throw farther. The only reason I gave this book a four star rating was because of the technique instructions that were explained only in print with few pictures. Overall a very good book however and I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get in better shape for the throwing events or to a coach who wants to better condition their athletes.
Nice work

I consider myself to have a decent undersanding of the throws, and still found this book to be full of tidbits of knowledge. If you are a throws guy (or girl) then this book should be a part of your collection.
