Solid Introduction

A good introduction to some important sociological perspectives. I thought that the limited criticism they made of each perspective was pretty fair even if it could have been a little more aggressive. The authors do say something about the relative popularity of each perspective but I would have liked to see more, using different metrics, ie. what share of articles published in top journals could be described as functionalist? As a bit of a wonk, I also wish the authors had better related the theory to policy research and scholarship in other disciplines. Note, this review refers to an out of date paperback edition.
