Whether you're feeding your extended family on a Sunday night or heading over to the neighbor's annual block party, Cook's Country comes to the rescue with an impressive collection of recipes offering... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Yes there are recipes that are in other Cook's books, but this book has gathered together those and some that as I read over them I realized that these were ones from my childhood that I really enjoyed. Everything is bound up in this spiral cookbook with a nice yellow checked inner binding. There are some mouth watering pictures and the usual good job that is done on pictures illustrating techniques, such as how to fill deviled eggs without a pastry bag. Substitutions are given for some foods in the recipes and warnings of what not to substitute- always a great idea, especially if you feel that 2% milk can be used instead of whole milk. They will tell you if you cannot do that with any success and why. Testing has been done on cooking equipment with advice on what works best and what works almost as good for a lower price. There are 120 recipes here and a section on potluck 101- food safety, packing tips, reheating and serving, how to be a good potluck guest and tips for a successful potluck. The recipes included starters, with the ever popular Cowboy caviar included, brunch, salads and slaw, hot sides, casseroles, game day, slow cooker section with a luscious Guinness beef stew and sweet and sour ribs, and desserts - do not miss making Apple slab pie and Texas sheet cake - different but such good old fashioned comfort food that most have forgotten. The index is very detailed with ingredients, names of dishes and even some equipment. There are also conversion charts for volume, weight, baking ingredients and oven temperatures. These recipes will impress those that you carry them out to or just as well cook them for wonderful satisfying meals for your family and company. It's really the best pot luck book I've seen and used.
