In 2016, Lauren had returned to Louisiana from Bangladesh with a half-full suitcase and less than $500 to her name. Alone, with her kids lost to her, and a need to get her life back together again, she scraped by, starved, stayed sick, walked a mile every day, and ate rotted carrot pie.
Only seven years later, she had a family of ten, ran her first marathon, did two 50-mile ultra runs, and completed two full IronMan competitions.
Couch to 50 miles follows the journey of a girl who wanted to be found and wanted to be forgotten. A girl who was haunted by a relentless need to run. A girl who went from scarcity and survival and walking a mile a day, to learning the secrets of nutrition, training, recovery, and inner peace-and to running ultras and IronMans and putting endless miles under her feet on the Wild Azalea Trail. A girl who found love. And hate. And healing. And then found herself again.
