A smart, funny, poignant, very modern autobiographical coming-of-age novel, written when the author was sixteen years old. Like Catcher in the Rye, Crazy appeals to the teenager in us all. Benni... This description may be from another edition of this product.

Crazy

In life, some people just have special ties to others. People have boyfriends, girlfriends, best friends, enemies, etc. But every once in a great while, a friendship develops where the ties they have are so strong, you could dare call them family. Crazy, a tru story written by a german boarding school student, is about six boys who become so close, they can only be labeled family. As the reader, you will see the story through the eyes of Benny. Crazy is set in Neuseelen, Germany, where Benny is sent to attend a boardin school due to falling grades and a not-so-great home life. Once at Castle Neuseelen, the boarding school, Benny meets his roomate, Janosch. Almost instantly the two boys become the best of friends, and practically brothers. As Benny meets the members of Janosch's clique, he is quickly accepted, and a small "family" of misfits starts to grow. After sneaking countless trips to the girl's corridor, constant truancy, and other school yard misdemeanors, they want to do something Crazy. "We needto do something great, so spectacular, everybody will remember us!" exclaimed Benny.Find out exactly what crazy deeds this group of renegades actually commits; take a trip through the world of a modern day teenager and the stresses and pleasures of everyday life. I myself recommend Crazy because even though it took place in Germany, everything holds true to the life in the United States. However being this book was translated from German to English, the grammar and vocabulary may seem awkward and inappropriate. All in all, despite cultural differences, this book will keep you on the edge of your seat, wondering what will happen next; after all, boys will be boys.
conversation is the key

I enjoy reading witty books... books that make you think about what the author is actually trying to say, and this is definitely one of those books. Throughout this novel, the school boys in it articulate some feelings and thoughts and even just some truths about life that seem to make so much sense. it gives the feeling of "hey, i've felt that before... but never knew exactly how to describe it..." all through the book.
Crazy about love

I absolutely love this book. Although it's not a representation of all the teenagers in the world (at least not me), it certainly tells something about being young, something almost every one of us could relate to. Every page is being turned with a smile on my face, and every line fits to be a perfect paragon of Benjamin's definition of "literature". I enjoy the fresh style; it's simplicity, and honesty. Thank you, Benjamin! I heard the movie just came out in Germany...hope it will open in the US soon...it's going to be very interesting.

What an amazing story coming from such a young author! As soon as I got the book home I have been reading non stop and finished it in a day and a half!( I had to sleep and eat that is why it took so long) Not many authers keep my interest the way Benjamin Lebert has. Great book about teenage boys and the crazy things they do while learning to become a man.
