Cross Stitch Samplers (Better Homes and Gardens)

Published in 1986 this small, 79 page book provides the Cross Stitch Sampler enthusiast a variety of Samplers and styles from traditional American, to Blue Sampler, to Floral Alphabets all in one book. There are also several nice children's pieces, two of which include covers for children's outdoor furniture, and a stunning 21 1/2" pioneer doll, sure to become an heirloom piece. With all the plastic out there today, how wonderful for a child to have a cross-stitch doll to play with and to pass along to the next generation. I've not seen one as nice as this and with a pattern for cloths as well. There is a novel children's number book, Birth Announcement Sampler and stuffed toys. A nice selection of attractive pieces for a very pleasing price. So why the 4 stars? It's a BH & G and could have been striking with a some polished BH & G editorial work. This is a keeper for the doll alone if for nothing else but I would ultimately suggest the Reader's Digest "The Big Book Of Cross-Stitch Designs" for an overall collection. This is a really BIG book......no doll, but all the other bells and whistles,......so get this book, and the BH & G book for the great doll. I'm making that doll even if I have no small child to give it to today. I do have three beautiful neices who just might want one one day.
