Purchased this book for my brother as he and his wife were preparing for their first child. Humorous book with truthful undertones. I made a daddy diaper belt for him as illustrated on the front cover and stuck the book inside one of the tool belt pouches. It made for a great gift.

I really enjoyed this particular book. It was a funny look at the experience so many men have, and so many men have so little clue about. I dont' find the whole father deal so terrifying when I realize I can laugh about it - and I'm in good company.It isn't Doctor Spock, true, but then he never made me smile or laugh.

Children are a joy and a blessing, but raising them can be a seemingly unending nightmare. So thank God for Robert Fulghum's uncommonly talented son Hunter. I grew up in family-oriented Tulsa, Oklahoma, but I learned nothing about child-rearing from the experience. A wise, slapstick-style child-rearing guide for my father might have changed so many things. Lucky for one and all that Hunter's diapers were changed by such a gifted, gifted man. Thank you, Fulghums!

Speaking as someone with two children (ages 11 and 13, going on 20 and 37 respectively), I think this book nails the experience. From the goo children emit to the sulks they pitch at you, this one will make you laugh about it -- even if you can't change the facts of life.
