"Danny, the Angry Lion" is about a little boy who gets mad when he doesn't get what he wants to eat. Danny really, really wants sausages and raspberry juice, but instead is served beans and potatoes. Danny does complain, but he doesn't eat either. Instead, this high-spirited little boy positively roars with rage. Then, he puts on a lion costume! He's still hungry, and declares that if he can't get his sausages and raspberry juice, then he'll eat anything he can get his paws on, and that includes people. He spots three likely looking meals right away upon stepping out of his house. Danny finds, however, something far different than he expected. These people not only aren't scared of him, they can really use his help. For example, one has a bike with flat tire, and another really needs help getting a refreshing drink of coffee. Danny helps them, and as he does, finds his anger evaporating. A tender tale of helping others, and learning to manage your emotions. The story is vibrantly illustrated, with some nice detail to look at. This story was originally published in Switzerland, but reads just as well in English. Recommended as a read-aloud for kids, or for those who are learning to read on their own.
