Grand escape

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I appreciated the heroine because she was NICE. I am tired of reading about women who get their way from being bit* & ^. She was nice, interesting and intelligent. The hero was complex and not the normal one dimensional, stark, dark hero. I enjoyed the characters, and I was surprised to find when I read it a 2nd time that the 1st person characterization was actually a plus. I am old enough to have read many Victoria Holt novels which are often first person. All in all, I enjoyed the background descriptions, the plot twists, the secondary characters, and of course the hero and heroine. I like this book enough that I am on line today searching for another Ellen Archer novel. Thank you Ms. Archer for giving a busy mom a mini summer vacation; twice!
Very predictable but still very good...

I really enjoyed this book but I honestly figured out the main mystery before I even opened up the book. Either I'm a psychic or it was just too predictable. Everything I read (up until the final twist) I felt like I already knew without having to read it. I felt like the author was giving too many clues & when the shockers finally came they just weren't shockers because you already knew it. Although there is a surprise at the end that probably nobody could predict I didn't find that it made any big difference in the story. If you don't mind having the mysteries solved before they are revealed then I highly recommend this book because the story is great as well as the romance when it finally blooms. If you want a little bit non-predictiable mystery with your romance you may want to look elsewhere.
a great romance

when a friend first recommended this to me, I was skeptical since I don't normally like romance novels. but it was really good and i liked it a lot. If you are looking for a romance with an intelligent plot that isn't really graphic, this is a great choice.

This is an inteligent, fast-paced read; I finished it in one day. It is a mystery, historical romance and psychological thriller rolled into one. There is an ingenue with amnesia, a rich, handsome husband and lots of plot twists.
