The Eudys! About 1945, it sure wasn't very popular to anounce that one was of German origin, however with the destruction of the Berlin Wall many Americans have changed their outlook. I for one, am very proud to be descended from German emigrants - G?ettfried Uthe just being one of them.G?ettfried Uthe (Uhde, Eudy) was neither wealthy, nor was he powerful, however he did pocess the pioneer spirit and mind that helped settle and mold this country into a new nation. G?ettfried Uhde most likely could perform many different skills needed in order to be able to survive in the wilderness of the colonies during the 18th century. One such skill was that of a German shoemaker.G?ettfried Uhde was most likely a religious man and spoke in broken English. In 1764, he left Pennsylvania and moved south down The Waggon Road to Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, the section of the county that in 1792 became Cabarrus County. There he raised a family near Adams Creek which runs North off of the Rocky River.G?ettfried Uhde was buried along side his son, C?enrad Uhde in an abandoned family cemetery located in Stanly County, North Carolina. The history of the descendants of G?ettfried Uhde is written and now preserved in this book so you can learn more of your German heritage.
