This book is called "Friendship" which, I feel, is not the title it deserves. I think it should be called "Double Bind". That would give more meaning to the psychological/philosophical touch of the book. Double Bind... n : an unresolvable dilemma; situation in which a person receives contradictory messages from a person who is very powerful The novel describes the friendship between two opposites. Behind the surface it explains the process of addiction. The addiction to Nicotine - Alcohol - Food - Dependence - Religion - Philosophy - Work - Money - Vanity. And the list could go on for ever. One could even get addicted to the topic of addiction. Since everybody is addicted to someone, something or someplace, everybody should read this book. Insight into your own behaviour in the form of a novel. That is how you should see it. Romantic Philosophy as a consumers guide. I highly recommend it.
