When Will Ross and Cheryl Crane hit the roads of Colorado, they have no idea they will become the target of a madman obsessed with destroying a town celebration, a sports reporter, and a bicycle race.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
The sad thing about mysteries is that so many authors have made such a success by being predictable and writing the same book over and over. Despite the heat he seems to be taking, I'm glad to see that Moody has the guts to stand apart, take some chances, and push his story and characters into new territory. I loved this story and can't wait for the sequel.
Deadroll Dead On!

I Finished Deadroll last night. The goose bumps are still there at 3pm this afternoon. Wow! Even when you've read the previous Moody mysteries and think you have a sense for how the author thinks you'll be shaking your head over this ending. The way Moody's characters evolve from one book to the next is how life works. People get older. They change careers. They get married. They have kids. Good and bad things happen...and life goes on. Mario Andretti doesn't drive race cars for a living anymore. Will Ross isn't going to ride a bike for the rest of his life. When Moody writes about something it's always something he knows. He obviously knows bike racing and a little something about TV news. Don't be surprised if there's an ant farm in the next book!
What a RIDE!!

I just finished Deadroll and am recovering from the final pages!! What a storyteller Greg Moody has become. I have read all of his previous novels, with Derailleur being my favorite... but I truly enjoyed the "melding" of sports and media in this story. The new characters are quirky and vividly described, as are the cycling scenes and settings! A great read for anyone who has been on a bike or wondered just what goes on at Channel 4!
Best Yet

I got a chance to read an advance copy of this new Moody thriller and it is by far the best yet. The descriptions of the cycling are dead on and the mystery rings true -- especially in the terrifying conclusion. I can't BELIEVE how he ended this one. I've enjoyed his books in the past, especially Two Wheels and Perfect Circles, but Deadroll takes the prize. Well done!
