Good read. Recommend you read with an open mind. Feel free to skip the preface. It's pretty much an attempt to discredit James 1st/6th while making money off his work at the same time. sad, and shame on the modern publishers. Preface is full of unfounded accusations against him. The actual context is based on confessions made during interviews/interrogations that he had a hand in. None of us were there so come to your own conclusions. Mostly warns against dabbling in the occult and why. Advise that is still relevant. Some reviews complain that they were lost at the mention of ware wolves; however, these same folks would likely never question a Native American on the existence of skinwalkers, so again, read and draw your own conclusions, and stay frosty
