Corruption in the Indonesian government reaches new heights when a top-level official sanctions a thriving piracy ring in the region. The profits are helping to fund a new bioterrorism weapon that will ultimately be used against America. When the U.S. State Department officials who unearthed evidence of the whole scheme disappear, Mack Bolan is sent to find them. But Bolan is ambushed by a group of commandos at his drop zone in the mountains outside Jakarta. Protecting a covert jungle stronghold, the mercenaries are desperate to keep the true extent of their activities hidden. A team of assassins is lying in wait and the Executioner must stop them with a hit of his own.
If you, like me, have been reading these action/adventure books for the past 20 years at least, you don't need much reason to read a Mack Bolan book. This book is number 359 in The Executioner series. Mack Bolan's low altitude drop zone is in the deserted mountains outside Jakarta. First surprise for Bolan: the mountains are not deserted, a well trained group is waiting for him, and he is hit hard from almost the moment he lands. Though he has a stringer or contact to work with, Arti Sukarnoputri, she is put out of action in the fire fight. Bolan is involved with DEA and drug trafficking in the Indonesia area, with many top officials involved. Bolan will be going up against some real bad people, people very skilled in killing for profit. He is ultimately concerned with stopping the drug profits from being used to fund 'a new bioterrorism weapon', a weapon that will be directed against the U.S. The Executioner must wade through a bevy of well armed and trained assassins 'lying in wait' before he can retaliate on his own. Live Large. This Gold Eagle 359 is another in Gold Eagle's long line of Mack Bolan books since the 1980s. Bolan is our defender of freedom, bringing death to the bad guys. And every month he returns to do battle against evil. Great books, great adventure. Semper Fi.
