This fine book details the lives, stories, and music of many of the great conductors prior to the 2nd World War. Most interesting are the sections on Stokowski and the Phila Orchestra, followed by his work on Disney's FANTASIA, and Toscanini, a great maestro without a touch of arrogance, and a staunch anti-Fascist. Since this work was originally printed in the early 1940's, the conductors' views and experiences with Nazis and Fascists are of great interest as well!
Excellent!
