The Biographisches Handbuch der Rabbiner covers Rabbis from central Europe and documents a many-facetted cultural profile. The articles on individual Rabbis are arranged alphabetically and contain as much information as possible on their descent, education, career as a Rabbi, family and religious position. Each entry includes a bibliography covering primary and secondary literature.
The majority of these teachers and scholars had not previously been covered by biographical research. Now, through the Biographisches Handbuch der Rabbiner, it is possible to gain a complete picture of the occupational circumstances of German-speaking Jews in modern times.
