Discovering Gifts in Middle School: Learning in a Caring Culture Called Tribes
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 17 years ago
The author starts out by describing common problems and concerns of middle school students and then gives solutions to build a caring community in your classroom. There are lots of activities to use, giving any teacher something that would work with their personality and environment. I would recommend this book to new or veteran middle school teachers that want to improve the culture of their classroom.

I run an after school program in the middle school; and this book has helped us build a positive, safe, and enjoyable place for students to go.
A great resource for brain-based educators
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 20 years ago
I purchased this book after attending an inservice seminar on brain based education. The middle school team that I work with has implemented this resource into all or our classrooms. If you are new to the idea of not just putting students into groups but having them work cooperatively and learn to work as a team then the first half of this book will be an excellant resource. The second half of the book has great activites that will help you develop this approach in your classroom. The activities suggested work well because they build on one another so that ultimatley you can have your students working together, sharing their ideas, and building up one another. This is a great book!
