Author Judith Bell has assembled an extremely useful guide for the researcher undertaking a project of any size. The author examines the preparatory stages; such as: various styles of research applicable to the needs of the project, planning and record keeping of your notes and data. Part Two looks at: collection of data; designing and administering questionnaires and planning and conduct of interviews. The final Part Three looks at interpretation of your data, presentation of those findings in various formats and writing of your report. I found the book well written with an easy-to-read style and complimented by good illustrations of the various charts and diagrams a researcher could use to present data and findings. The book is not comprehensive due to its 176 pages, however further reading lists at the end of each chapter will steer the reader onto additional information where required. In summary a very useful book, which is well laid out with an easy to read style. This second edition is now fifteen years old and researchers would be better advised to go for the newer fourth edition of this book. Well done, Judith Bell!

This book is great for people who find research boring, because this book actually makes doing the research fun! It's easy to read, as well.
