A photographic record of the architecture and engineering of the Millennium Dome. The book documents the building process of the dome at every stage, from its inspirational inception to its finished state. Specially-commissioned photographs, architectural drawings, maps, plans and computer models are included. Each image is captioned with a date and a brief explanation of the construction process featured.
Content aside, this small book is worth buying for the packaging and formatting alone. The entire book is cut into an unusual circular shape and packaged in a matching clear plastic case that flips open -- beautiful! The content of the book is wonderful, too, with concise, descriptive sentences on each page and crisp color photos (both overviews and shots of very specific structural details) throughout. There are even some computer renderings in the middle of the book that are printed on trace paper (or a similar type of paper), unlike the color photos that appear on heavier glossy paper. This title offers a great overview of Rogers' project, from conception to completion, and the unusual style of the book mirrors the grandiosity of the structure itself.
