Memory repression...

This book does such a great job of showing what people feel when suddenly realizing that they were sexually abused and had repressed it. It has weaknesses, but what book dosent. I guess the hardest part for me to deal with was that the family reaction was not dealt with more. Ultimately I reccomend it highly for anyone experiencing or wishing to learn about childhood sexual abuse, memory repression, and/or incest.

I am a survivor, and have read hundreds of books on the subject. This one touched me. I highly recommend it. Reading this will stir up feelings, so it's good to have support when you read.

Wow! I just finished this book (in 3 days which including helping my sister with her marriage which I was in)! First a warning-if you have experienced sexual abuse, and/or repressed memories, be careful in reading this! It is very helpful, but it can also cause your feelings to surface. I was so spaced out and only wanted to sit alone somewhere I felt safe and read this. It is very helpful though. Also, the authors themsleves, wrote a note saying that the recovery process is usually or can be much longer. It does seem to happen quickly..but what else could they do? Its already a good-sized book. Ok...now to the praises...I have just discovered I have repressed memories, but have not yet sought help, I really don't even know if any thing happened because the only memory was not complete. But this book helped reassure me of God's love and guidence! And that life can get better...and probbaly most amazing...I'm not the only one feeling this way! IT was amazing how it seemed I wrote some of Mallory's feelings. I have had a hard time finding books on repression of sexual abuse, especially incest, and Christian, and am glad these women wrote this book! God bless!
