This is an excellent book on drawing and painting flowers. The flowers range from a loose style to on the border of realistic. You will have to push your artwork to the next level for a highly realistic look. It doesn't matter if your style is loose or realistic, this is an excellent book to have because of the valuable information it contains. The book discusses media, techniques, working from life and photographs, planning, composition, arrangement, depicting detail, achieving accuracy, contrasts, monochrome and color coordinated, line, form, color, and texture. The following media is discussed: graphite pencil, colored pencil, watersoluble pencil, watercolor, pen/ink/wash. This book does not show step by step demonstrations. The left page shows the flower drawn or painted wrong (listing all the problems). The right page shows the flower drawn or painted correctly (listing all the solutions). There are problems and solutions for drawing and painting the following: pansy, carnation, foxglove, waterlily, sweet pea, cyclamen, dahlia, daisy, chrysanthemum, white flowers, hollyhock, garden scene, lupin, basket of flowers, clematis, rose, amaryllis, iris, camellia, antirrhinum, poppy, honeysuckle, sunflower, primrose, greenhouse, magnolia, agapanthus.

Very good book. Excellent instruction on what not to do as well as how to do it correctly. highly recommended.
