As predicted, Sarah endures two dangerous attacks, one in Paris, and another in Lucerne, Switzerland. She forges ahead, determined to enjoy a tourist trip and winds up face to face with her old dream mate, Geoff. She literally drops in her tracks when, unbeknownst to both of them, Geoff's creative gremlin has jumped ship and taken up residence in Sarah. She wakes up in a hospital room recovering from cardiac arrest, with Geoff's friend, Am?lie at her side. Protective Am?lie wants answers, while Sarah only wants to obey her signature instinct to run away. Geoff anxiously retreats to a safe distance back in London.The tale of Sarah and Geoff spans 24 years over the course of the novel, and travels from Chicago to Los Angeles to Paris to Lucerne to London and back. While Sarah may question the veracity of the Geoff in her dreams, she comes across an endless parade of real life folks who are just as off-kilter, including her narcissist ex-boyfriend, her eccentric employer, her best friend who happens to be her sister, and Geoff's calculating manager.Sarah thought she had the answers, but now she doesn't know.
