Great Start-up for DW2 Newbies- Very Acurate Title

OK you big, bad critics, READ THE TITLE. This is not "The Complete DW Ref.", nor "The DW 2 Guide for DW 1.2 Users", nor even "The Advanced DW Guide for DW Experts". This is a great book for doing what the title states- getting started using the program quickly (hense VQS). This book is great for getting started using the most useful and exciting WYSIWYG editor around. The book focusses on how to use the immense functionality available in DW 2. The concise explainations and helpful visuals get the point across without overwhelming those unfamiliar with DW. This also keeps the book short (can be read in week-end). I would also suggest buying the HTML, JavaScript, DHTML, and PERL/ CGI VQS Guides (in this order). This will allow you to get the most out of DW's vast capabilities. For those of you looking for something other than a qickstart (or in addition to) try the Dreamweaver 2 Bible, or Dreamweaver H.O.T.
Too much cutesy language, not enough information
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 25 years ago
At the school where I teach, we use many of the VQS books; this one is a real disappointment. There's lots of cute, informal language, but not enough good hard information. For example: the discussion on using tracing images has several paragraphs of "explanatory" text, with extraneous asides and jokes, but nowhere (that I can find) does the discussion include something as basic as what file formats you have to use for a tracing image. The rest of the book has been equally frustrating and non-useful. I don't recommend it.
great book

I would highly recommend to buy this book, specially to those who wants to learn Dreamweaver quickly and easily. No lengthy explanations just straightforward step by step tutorials on the features of the software. Thanks Ms. J. Tarin
The Visual QuickStart Guide Series is excellent

The product manual that comes with Dreamweaver 2 is fine as a reference. But it's not a teaching tool and it's not any fun to just sit down and read it.I've read the Visual QuickStart Guide for Dreamweaver 1.2 by the same author and found his coverage of Dreamweaver to be comprehensive, yet concise, interesting and understandable. Anyone wishing to get up and running in Dreamweaver 2 in the shortest amount of time possible should buy this book.
