8 Essentials, actually more than 8

This has so many ideas and applications for inquiry based science utilizing the 5E Learning Cycle that I have used it over and over again as a template for many of my lessons in my 7th & 8th grade science classes (I've taught for 15 years) I have demonstrated the ideas and strongly recommend the book in my sciecne methods classes where I am an adjunct instructor at a local teaching college. Highly recommended

Teaching the Essentials

Science is a difficult subject to teach for many elementary educators. It seems difficult because the results of a particular activity may vary from an expected conclusion. This author illuminates the steps and strategies (essentials) to create and deliver effective, best-practice lessons; therefore, encouraging teachers to plan lessons, ask probing questions and promote inquiry in K-8 classrooms. In the book, each chapter explains one of the 8 Essentials. Research is highlighted and is then illustrated through purposeful science experiences. When the reader concludes the chapters, a realistic 8-point lesson plan has been described and ready for the teacher to implement. As a science consultant, the 8 Essentials of Inquiry-Based Science has heightened my understanding of presenting an inquiry-based professional development workshop.
