Det. Lanie Daniels of the Victorian Police Dept. has to separate perception from reality to solve an influencers' murder, witnessed by fans, who can't agree with what they saw through her eyes.
While visiting her hometown of Melbourne, world-famous streamer, Celeste Simone, is found dead of a drug overdose in her hotel bathtub. Her Husband, Jerome Pitt, famed futurist and owner of Umwelt Platforms-which enables influencers like Celeste to livestream their POV-believes it was murder. Lanie finds and interviews the most engaged fans, streaming Celeste the day of her passing. Each brings their own baggage to what they saw, unearthing multiple suspects: a vagrant busker, a close friend, a local promoter and an ambitious rival, suspected of having an affair with Jerome. As Lanie gets closer to cracking the case, Jerome has a sudden change of heart; worried about the 'optics' and wanting the case closed to protect his dead wife's reputation. Racing against the clock, Lanie has to sift through subjectivity to uncover what really happened to Celeste Simone, and open her own eyes to the slippery idea of truth.
