After her friend Godwin has a nasty quarrel with his significant other, John, Betsy Devonshire finds herself with a roommate. But heartbreak turns to grief when Betsy and Godwin discover John dead in his home, and Godwin is arrested for the murder. Betsy sets out to prove him innocent, and finds that John had some dishonest dealings that made him a lot of money--and a lot of enemies. Now Betsy has to untangle a cat's cradle of lies if she's going to save Godwin...before the murderer decides to cut off all the loose ends for good.
I love the whole series and there were quite a few twists and turns in this one that I didn't see coming. It's a another good one to add to the list.

Monica Ferris continues to please with Betsy's antics! I love all the characters and always relish a return trip to Excelsior, MN! In this one, Betsy's faithful assistant, Godwin is accused of murdering his boyfriend (John) and she sets out to prove him innocent. This story helps to develop Godwin's character as lot as well as provide an interesting plot.

I really enjoy the Betsy Devonshire mysteries, and this one is no exception, but it does fall a little short of the other books in the series. While we get to know a great deal more about Godwin and his relationship with John, there seems to be more description of setting than actual plot development. And to be perfectly honest, Ms Ferris almost gives it away about 2/3 of the way through. The character development was good, and there were a few surprises scattered throughout the book, but they seemed to distract from the story line. A good read, but not one of my favorites by this author
