Born in France in 1967, Emmanuel Babled moved to Milan, Italy to study at the European Institute of Design. After graduating in 1989 he began working with various design studios in Milan and Paris. In 1992 Babled opened a studio in Milan and currently produces limited editions and single pieces of glass and porcelain and is a consultant for private individuals and companies regarding glass, crystal objects, interior design and product design. This book complements the solo show of the glass designer Emmanuel Babled held by the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation in Venice from September 11, 2004 through November 8, 2004. The exhibited works belong to the new Toys series and are an exclusive production for the prestigious Venini glassworks firm in Venice. The glass objects are displayed in three different themes. Although they are aesthetically and formally very different from one another, they have all been made using the old way of making glass but with particular attention to contemporary culture. This exhibition showcased Babled's great capacity and craftsmanship in working with such a difficult and fragile material as glass.
