Volume one provides a list of sources which are surveyed in the subsequent volumes as well as provides a guide to secondary literature for further study of Indian philosophy. Volume 2 provides a detailed resume of current knowledge about hte classical Indian philosophical system of Nyaya-Vaisesika in its earlier stages. Volume 3 summarizes early Advaita Vedanta upon Sankara's pupils. Volume 4 discusses the history of the system and its philosophical overall. This present volume attempts to cover the development of Buddhist philosophical notions from the time of Vasubandhu and his critic Samghabhadra. It is a glorious period in indian history, the time of the Gupta kings.
