Sensible help for controlling Stress

Mary Southernland knows stress can't be avoided, but she has some very good advice for ways to control it. In today's world we struggle to do everything and please everyone. Southerland reminds us that God created us, he loves us, and we only have to please Him. Stress is a deadly disease, that will make us sick and shorten our lives. This book spoke to me in many ways. One thing she pointed out made me stop and think; Fatigue is not a spiritual gift. I hadn't thought about it that way, but she's right. We rush to meetings, take on jobs, wear outselves out "in the service of the Lord," but that doesn't make us more holy. Even God rested on the seventh day, not because He needed it, but to drive home the point that we do. Her version of the 23rd Psalm is worth memorizing or at least keeping a copy handy. In addition to very good tips on how to beat stress, she uses scripture referrences to back up what she says. There's even a Bible Study Guide in the back. Escaping the Stress trap is a very well written book with a timely message.
