As a member of the World Organization of Webmasters, who endorses this book, I was very excited to read and learn from Mr. Lyons writings. I found the book to be extremely helpful in showing upper management how web sites should be done,as opposed to our current standard of piecing sites together. In the book, retrofitting is mentioned. I hadn't seen this term used and understood immediately what was meant. It is very enlightening to see your good and your bad habits in print and then to be able to do something about them. This is a good book for defining the architecture and creative process that builds a solid web site for the needs of the users.Downside? Almost half of the book is appendix. I have plenty of XML and XHTML books, and didn't expect that knowledge to come from here.By far, the largest chapter in the book is 'How to use DreamWeaver to create your site'. I don't use DreamWeaver and have no intentions of doing so. Maybe because there is no 'Essential DREAMWEAVER for web professionals' it got lumped into design. But don't get me wrong, it is worth the read. The things that are stated in the book need to be known if building a good web site. And if you already know it, it is good to be reminded.
