Evidence & Procedures for Boundary Location

With approximately 40% more material, this revised, updated edition of the classic bestseller remains the industry standard for providing practitioners with a thorough, practical understanding of the laws of boundaries and the evidence needed to make efficient, accurate boundary determinations. In covering the technical, legal, and administrative aspects of the task, Evidence and Procedures for Boundary Location now includes changes in content and organization that reflect new developments in the field, clarify important points, and make the book easier to use than ever before. The new Third Edition divides previous coverage of evidence into three distinct chapters - general concepts, field evidence, and verbal evidence - underscoring the important distinction between field evidence and oral or written evidence. Also included is more coverage of verbal evidence and additional material on physical evidence. Another newly revised chapter on evidence eliminates several theoretical boundary computations, which can be found in many other surveying books, and replaces them with specific coverage of measurements as evidence. Historical coverage, which was expanded in the previous edition, has been further increased in the new Third Edition, providing a greater background into the historical sources of boundary evidence. In addition, material on the surveyor in court has been further expanded with the inclusion of the authors' actual court experiences. Evidence and Procedures for Boundary Location now features "Principles" at the beginning of each chapter, making it easier for readers to quickly locate discussion on a particular point. The book's readability has also been enhanced by thereplacement of extended legal quotations with more "user-friendly" narrative descriptions. With a bounty of important changes and additions, the new Third Edition of Evidence and Procedures for Boundary Location reinforces the central idea that evidence remains the foundation of boundary surveying. In this new edition, the book remains the leading text for university courses focusing on the legal aspects of surveying, while remaining an essential reference for licensed land surveyors, civil engineers, realtors, attorneys, and for individuals preparing for a license or registration. The book is equally helpful to the novice and to the experienced professional.

A Good Boundary Research Reference

This is a good text to introduce the surveyor to boundary evidence, procedures, and the history of orginal surveys. The information in the text covers much of the United States and supplements evidence gathering procedures in specific States.
