The F-117 Nighthawk was the world's first operational aircraft designed and built to utilize stealth technology. It was developed specifically to attack high-value targets and escape without being detected by hostile radar systems. The F-117 first saw action during Operation Just Cause in Panama in December 1989, it owned the skies over Iraq during Desert Storm in early 1991, and it supplemented NATO's Operation Allied Force in Yugoslavia and Kosovo. This photography-driven history follows the design, construction, and flight-testing of BLUE-01 and BLUE-02, Lockheed's original demonstrator aircraft. The focus then shifts to the Scorpion Flight Test Team and the development of the F-117 from its first flight through its Initial Operational Capability approval. Only recently has the veil of secrecy surrounding the F-117 and its history been lifted, allowing the general public to learn about this groundbreaking aircraft and its amazing development team. F-117 Stealth Fighter Photo Scrapbook contains never-before-seen photography covering the design, construction, and development of the F-117 and its service history in Operation Desert Storm.
This is a great book, it has alot of great pics and many Ive never seen or could find on the internet including the prototype blue aircraft, the experimental grey f-117's, and even one with a huge skunk works logo painted on the bottom!
A look inside a once very secret program.

This book is a very good collection of pictures and information about the flight testing phase of the F-117A and the early development of Stealth aircraft. The public finally gets to view pictures that were once locked up in vaults and guarded very closley. As a former member of "Team Stealth" I am very pleased to see these kinds of books. Of course I am also very displeased to see the aircraft retired from service.
THE F-117 NIGHTHAWK BOOK WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!

There are alot of books on the F-117A Nighthawk, and most are repetative. The older books rehash the same old story and contain the same old pictures. Yancy Mailes and Tony Landis have broken new ground with more fascinating facts about this great warbird and never before published pictures and artwork in their concise (108 pages), but awesome "photo scrapbook." This new material comes from people who were actually involved with the most difficult flight test program in aviation history - the developers, testers, pilots, and maintainers. Also contains great pictures and artwork of Northrop's XST and TACIT BLUE prototypes, and Lockheed's ATB SENIOR PEG entry and the F-117N design for the U.S. Navy. THIS IS THE BOOK THAT F-117A NIGHTHAWK ENTHUSIASTS HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR! Do yourself a favor and pick up this outstanding book!
