An anthology of personal experiences and observations demonstrates the author's African heritage, his explorations in the Kalahari, his adventures in Japan and Russia, and his friendship with C. G.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is billed as an anthology but it's really a selection of quotes from Van der Post's writings, somewhat organized by topic. The selections tend to be long, but Van der Post was apparently pretty discursive.
Van der Post was the "Lawrence" of MERRY CHRISTMAS MR LAWRENCE, and there are several key passages (including one from the end) from the book ("The Night of the New Moon") as well as all of Van der Post's other major works, including "Yet Being Someone Other," "A Far-Off Place," "The Lost World of the Kalahari," etc.
Anyone who enjoys the works of philosophical researchers like Loren Eiseley or Stephen Jay Gould will enjoy this collection.
Feather Fall started me on a venture into Africa.

A friend gave me Feather Fall for Christmas two years ago, thinking I would enjoy reading it. For some reason I put it on the shelf and forgot about it for several months. When I picked it up and started reading it, I called her to say what a fantastic book and that she must read it! Since then I have been trying to read everything by and about Laurens van der Post. He has led me into a discovery of the people and geography of South Africa, but more importantly has helped me on my spiritual journal.
