The book "Fee Mining And Mineral Adventures In The Eastern U.S." gave me a good idea of were to start rockhounding locally. This book has up to date information, in the southeast, i.e. Phone #'s, addresses, directions, camping information, and dates of open opporation. Very helpful starting point for the novice and persons from out of state to begin the adventure of rockhounding.

Usually have no idea what to buy for my father-in-law and his girlfriend. They enjoy mining, and now we do too (since we tried this with them when they were visiting - great b-day party idea). I know he actually uses this book and carries it with him when he is traveling, and he said it's great! Yeah!

I used the other book ( fee mining in the west ) on my last vacation. The books in this series are great. I love them. If you like to travel around and collect neat looking rocks, gems and minerals like we do, get these books ! The books give such good directions that I was able to locate a mine that had been closed due to the owners death. All evidence of the mine was removed but we still found it from the books great directions. Buy these books they are great !
