Feedback Loops Volume 2: Voices of All Day DevOps

Each year, All Day DevOps hosts an annual conference attracting more than40,000 participants from well over 100 countries. A team of 200 speakers, track moderators, and volunteers contribute to running the conferenceover 24 hours. It is not surprising to see 100,000 conversations loggedby conference attendees in our free Slack workspace. We work hard todeliver on our promise of a "no vendor pitch" conference environment.Every session is delivered online is free - thanks to our generous sponsors.Over the years, we've continuously improved the experience for ourcommunity. We've made every session from each of our conferencesavailable free and on demand. We've produced hundreds of blog postscovering DevOps lessons learned. We've encouraged women, minorities, and others of diverse backgrounds to take part and share their knowledge.Working with our community members, we've introduced new tracks, topics, and workshops. We've encouraged participants to not watchalone, but to gather teams or local communities to participate and learntogether. In 2019, All Day DevOps participants self-organized over 185satellite viewing parties around the world - the largest of which gatherednearly 1,000 people. From the beginning, All Day DevOps was designed to be inclusive. Webuilt a platform, invited experts and everyday practitioners, and invitedthe world. The stories shared in this book are theirs; authentic, honest, and educational. The stories share the experiences of blazing new trails, failing at something again and again (and sometimes succeeding), anddriving innovation. The stories document the lessons learned, reveal theroadmaps, and sometimes share the code or architectures used to makeit happen. We share these stories here with you to help you learn, sparknew ideas, or to introduce you to someone new. The people that sharedtheir stories are all still available in our Slack workspace for you to chatwith, ask questions of, and to collaborate with. The experience of thisbook does not stop within these pages and I would like to encourageyou to reach out to any of the people featured across these chapters.Serving the DevOps community from afar is why we started All DayDevOps. It was not a COVID-19 response plan, it was a communityinclusion and education plan. Our original idea continues to serve theDevOps community with education for all. The stories within this bookare representative of that idea, our values, and experiences. If you are one of those who have joined us over the years, thank you.If you are new to our community, welcome. The chapters here can beread in any particular order. Find a topic that interests you, dive in, learnsomething, and apply the knowledge you gain. Enjoy your own journeythrough Feedback Loops, The Voices of All Day DevOps, Volume 2.Derek E. Weeks - Co-founder, All Day D
