Its a great little books to start of with. It well edited and I actually had some CT read by Dr Goodman, when I was in Milwaukee: the guy is a genius. As a med student I would rather borrow this book: not buy it. too expensive!

The best resource I've found to learn how to read chest films
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 17 years ago
As a third year medical student I've read many radiology books trying to learn how to quickly and accurately read chest films. This is the best resource I've found so far! I've read this book cover to cover three times (read the 2nd edition once, this new 3rd edition twice) and I've been able to quickly read PA and lateral chest films accurately as competently as any intern or resident. Although the book also teaches how to read a chest CT, its strength lies in teaching how to identify and localize chest pathology in either portable chest films, or PA and lateral films. This new edition is somewhat shorter than the previous one because there's one chapter ("segmental anatomy") that has been put on the CD. In addition to that chapter, the CD also has additional chapters, exercises and films to read that do not appear in previous editions. If you're looking for a fun, quick way to learn how to correctly identify common lung pathology on a chest film, this book is the best way to start. It will not make you an expert radiologist, but as a 3rd year med student the knowledge I've gained from this book is simply invaluable.
The best way to learn to read chest films

This is an excellent publication for anyone to learn to read chest radiographs. It provides a thorough method that you can use on each and every film so as not to miss anything. And it's much more clear than any of the lectures that I've ever attended, because the methodology is so sound and complete. This book elucidated many principles that were not covered in my courses, from anatomy on the radiograph that all professors seemed to assume that we know, to more specific signs that no one ever told me to look for.It is "a programmed text" meaning that it is written with fill in the blank sentences with the answer on the sideline, usually such that you can figure out the answer yourself. This not only makes it fun, it also makes it intellectually engaging such that you are forced to think and remember the ideas applied.I highly recommend this book for early in your medical career. Get it early and refer to it often!
Makes Reading chest x-rays fun

This book is very similar to Dubins(EKG's). It makes the reader an active participant in the reading. The book is do-able. It has lots of examples and I was able to get through it in a less than a week. I am much more comfortable reading chest x-rays after reading this book. I only wish there were more books like this in radiology.
