The book is for my Feminism theory class. Seriously, there are some very good articles like Sojourner Truth's, Ain't I a woman, Bouvoir's famous article, and so on. Fredrick Douglass' article was also included.

This was my first women's studies textbook. Now, ten years later after receiving a B.A. in wmst and weeks away from an M.A., I still find myself going back to this book. This is an exceptional reader that is divided into short segments/articles. It is an excellent overview of the development of feminist thought and an essential learning tool for students involved in Women's Studies classes.

Essential reading for everyone and anyone intrested in the history of women's struggles throughout American History. A bit above others because it is not homogenized as white voices only, but actually includes voices of women of color.
