An authentic, fun story!

The story is a delight and the illustrations are perfect in this wonderful tale of Lolo and her sister's quinceanera. Lolo feels a little left out of all the preparations for her sister's big celebration, but she finds a way to get plenty of attention! McCormack does a wonderful job of drawing you into this little girl's world and her "familia." I look forward to more books from her!

I read this book to my daughter's Kindergarten class yesterday and they loved it. They especially loved Lolo throwing up the tamale to rescue the sash. Your kids will have a lot of fun with this one!

The Fiesta Dress is a delightful tale with fancy swishing dresses that every young girl will enjoy. The main character is a typical, lovable child who is used to being the center of attention. Her sister's Quinceañera ( a kind of "coming of age" party in the Hispanic culture) is taking all the attention away from her, and while she doesn't deliberately do anything bad, her typical childish behavior gets her into trouble and threatens the celebration. The illustrations enhance the story, and show that the artist really did read the print and understands both the characters and the culture.

It was so cute to watch my granddaughters laugh at Gobi the dog and Lolo as they played. It is such a beautiful book!
