Four hundred years have passed since the appearance of Jesus Christ to the Nephites. Moroni and his daughter, Naftiah, have survived the almost total annihilation of the Nephite civilization by Lamanites. They hide in a cave housing sacred records while Moroni completes the secular and religious history his father had begun. When the record is completed, they will leave the killing fields and hide the record according to God's wishes. The two are soon separated by fate and their lives take directions far different than they had ever imagined.
