After our mother passed, we held a family ceremony in the front yard to scatter her ashes in special places, including over our pet cemetery, where many of her little animals also lay. The family mysteries began to flow as we found her delayed birth certificate and request for permanent name change. There were letters from Vern Dolan and all of her military records. It was the beginning of her story that needed to be told.
