The editorial description of the book doesn't do it justice. "Do fish sleep?" makes this sound like a kids' book, and it's really not. I learned a lot of interesting information about fish, and I'm not even from Alberta! I bought the guide because I couldn't find one I liked for my neighboring state, and figured there had to be at least some overlap between us. I'm glad I did, because the book is great at describing the fish covered. It provides helpful ways to distinguish between species, and great illustrations. The only odd part is that the book is tilted 90 degrees, with text printed sideways, so you have to hold it differently than normal while reading. It's slightly strange to get used to, but it makes sense for a fish book, because the illustrations can be larger that way (since fish are largely long and skinny). I wish Lone Pine had a fish guide for my area too!
