A creative approach to teaching beginning readers, the Flip-a-Word series invites children to flip pages to reveal new words. A cat turns into a bat, then a rat and finally a hat, as die-cuts change... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This was a whim purchase & I'm so glad I can't let money burn a hole in my pocket on this one. A great book for my Kindergartener, but her 3yr old brother likes it too. You should always read to your kids; this one is good since your Kindergartener can start reading this to you! Not sure my kids notice the cut out areas were you see "ake" (or one of the few other parts of a word like "ant") and how when you flip the page, it changes from a "c" to a "sn" or "r", but that's what it does to bring home the idea how you can make different words with one or two letter changes. It's probably teaching some sentence structure too. Colorful images are eye-catching and show the phrase created (snake on a rake; plant on a slant). And, it's just fun to read about a "snake on a cake". Recommended for PreK to 1st grade!

I LOVE this book...My daughter does too! The illustrations by Yukiko Kido are just delightful! This book is a perfect rhyming book for emergent readers! Covers the "ake" "oat" and "ant" rhyming families. Bright and vibrant colored pictures on heavy stock quality pages. You will not be sorry you purchased this book!!! One of my favorites!!!!!
