I read this book the first time 7 years ago; It has a different approach in evaluating flow through orifices, or has good formulas to calculate internal leakage in a spool valve when the spool is centered, or in the case it is eccentric. The book is very good to understand the basics; unfortunately most hydraulic systems today are so complex, these type of analysis are better done with good software; in order to provide the correct boundary conditions for the analysis, you need to have a good understanding of the basics; the phenomenons that are happening within your hydraulic component. This is a very good book to study and understand before going forward.
