This book is a practical description of many of the commonly used programming techniques required in both numerical and non-numerical applications of Fortran. It is written for non-specialist users... This description may be from another edition of this product.
My daughter (doing her post-doc at Oxford) needed a Fortran book recommendation, and I was reminded of A. Colin Day's classic. When I was in graduate school, this book was the one to have. Of course, that was in the day of Fortran, Cobol, and the early dawn of PL/I. This is the book for you if you must use Fortran but need to use hashtables, linked lists, strings, and recursion. The examples are simple and are extremely well explained. At the same time they supply the core of an efficient and manageable library.
