An account of Irwin (Ike) Hoover's years working at the White House, first as an electrician and then as the first Chief Usher. There's no preamble - it just starts right into the story. This is very typical of memoirs of the time, as I learned from reading the memoirs of the men who protected Abraham Lincoln. Mr. Hoover wasn't that early, but the style is similar. I was thrilled to find this book, and my copy was in decent condition for being nearly 80 years old.
