This book feels like a heartwarming conversation with the author. Using an engaging, everyman style, Rob Newell has done us all a great service by writing and publishing these stories to preserve them for ours and future generations. Some of the athletes are household names; others I can't believe I never heard of; but all of their stories were an inspiration and were very interesting. These are selfless men who put promising careers on hold to serve their country. The book was very enjoyable and educational.
Wonderful Vignettes

I bought the book for my husband and ended up reading it myself. I loved it. I have a short attention span when it comes to sports, but this was an easy, interesting read. Each chapter is a short story about a professional athlete that served in the armed forces. Not only were these men great athletes, but they put their professional careers on hold to serve our country. What a difference in the character and moral fortitude of these men and the crybaby professional athletes of today.
