A treasure chest of 19th Century songs, hilariuos jokes, wild stories, vintage photos, and even a recipe for cooking grounhog! 48 favorite melodies of the past that have traveled along with the... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book is really great because it has stories connected with the songs, little sidebar jokes, and the melody line and chords as well as some of the lyrics. So many of these great ol' time songs have so many verses that there is no room in this book (or any other, for that matter) for all of them. You might be able to find more verses on the internet, but you probably would not have a PC nearby while you are playing / singing. I did not realize when I ordered this how small in size it is. When you open it up and lay it out, it is 8 1/2 by 11, so it is more like a booklet. The very good thing about that is that it is easier to toss it in an instrument case or bag and go. The bad thing is, you might have a hard time seeing the music and lyrics while performing, so you might want to try and memorize the selections beforehand. This is one of many great titles from this author and publisher!
Nice little book for the price

The jokes are corny but each of the 48 songs includes a paragraph or two about the song and how it came to be. Also includes verses I've never heard before plus the chords to each song. Definitely worth [it].
